This angel is an original, one of a kind, art doll.
The 18th Peace Angel is a celebration of my Mother's birthday in September 1925.
Although she was not born on the 18th, her son was. To acknowledge her 80 years
there are 20 fabrics, 20 flowers, and 20 panels in each wing. The colors are the
shades and hues of her name, Violet - a genuinely nice person, nearly an angel
The 20 stylized violets tumbling from the angel's arms are mini quilts, each one
seperate and unlike another. The translucent panels of her faux stain glass wings
are single layer fabrics. The "leading" on each side is cut in one piece then
stitched in place over the panels.
The prayers of this angel are for mother's everywhere and the special kinds of
peace they seek; their prayers for health from the moment of conception, prayers
of safety with the first steps, of independence with the first day of school, of
patience with their mistakes, of tolerance with their choice of friends, of under-
standing with their decisions, of a safe journey when they have to leave...
Her head is sculpted from polymer clay. Her armature is wood and wire with a stain-
less steel base. She is 25 inches tall, 8 inches wide, 8 inches deep and weighs
nearly 4 pounds.
