This angel is an original, one of a kind, art doll.
Christians believe the rainbow is a promise. Science says it is
sunlight refracted and reflected in raindrops.
One can also be created by the light of the moon over the ocean
or a waterfall. An artist friend from Hawaii sent me the following
explanation. I do not know the author and apologize for not giving
proper credit.
“The Night Rainbow, NA PO MOKOLE, is seen only by a few. It is the
Spirit rainbow. The rainbow that holds our ancestors. When it is seen
it is a great blessing from all our family who have gone out of flesh.
Many healings take place at this time, for our spirit family knows our
needs and try to help us. They give us knowledge and rekindle the light
when it is weak. It is a time of unity, a time for family—a reawakening
or renewal for those in body. There is no greater blessing on earth than
the blessing of the Night Rainbow.”
When this angel first came to me I had an overwhelming urge to go to the
fabric store, almost as if someone were pushing me out the door. I was
astonished when I saw all the needed colors immediately and fully expected
to go home and start work, but the desire to work on her was completely gone
by the time I drove home. When I went back two weeks later this fabric was gone.
Several years later my friend from Hawaii was blessed with seeing her first
Night Rainbow. I was again astonished to hear the colors were pale and silvery,
just like my fabric waiting to be used. Another year has passed and now, finally,
she has decided it is her time to become.
Her face is sculpted from polymer clay. Her armature is wire and steel brake line
Her moon is paper covered Styrofoam. She is 14.5 inches tall with a 9 inch diameter
and weighs a little over 1 lb.
