This angel is an original, one of a kind, art doll.
Her head is sculpted from polymer clay and covered with yarn. Her dress and her
wings are made from crocheted doilies I found at an antique mall. The time and
craftmanship in these doilies is just extraordinary. Since most of us no longer
use them on our furniture I wanted to find another way to showcase this beautiful
artform. I call her my "Dancing Doily Dolly". I learned to crochet to cover her
leg armature and base. The bottom of her base is felted crocheted wool. Her hair
was inspired by watching the ball of yarn as I worked.
Her armature, or internal structure, is Romex electrical wire. She is 19 inches
tall, 10 inches wide, 10 inches deep and weighs 2 pounds.
